Recognize the stage, then point to the evidence

Start with original 30-second schematic examples for W, N1, N2, N3, and REM, then advance to five 90-second neighboring-epoch context cases. Identify the intended stage, choose the channel that best demonstrates the stated clue, and localize or mark the supporting teaching feature.

Teaching and clinical boundary: Every displayed signal is an original Sleep Pathways Guild schematic teaching signal, not a patient recording or copied source figure. Stage characteristics are paraphrased from project reference material. Current official scoring guidance, facility policy, and supervised scorer training remain authoritative for real studies.

Frequency ruler

Use the 1-second grid to estimate frequency

Cycles per second = Hz

These ranges are recognition anchors for the schematic lab—not a substitute for applying current scoring rules to the complete epoch.

Slow wave0.5–2 HzAbout ½ to 2 cycles each second
Theta / sleep LAMF4–7 HzAbout 4 to 7 cycles each second
Alpha8–13 HzPosterior wake rhythm; about 8 to 13 cycles each second
Sleep spindle11–16 HzOften strongest around 12–14 Hz in teaching examples
Sawtooth2–6 HzREM-associated waveform clue in the proper context

Stage recognitionCompare stage-oriented EEG background, EOG behavior, and chin tone across five original teaching epochs.
Point and measureClick channel + time targets for key teaching features, then drag across the N2 spindle example to mark its beginning and end.
Frequency recognitionUse the calibrated one-second grid to connect waveform density with alpha, theta/LAMF, spindle, slow-wave, and sawtooth frequency ranges.
Pack 2 · Neighboring-epoch evidence

Keep 90 seconds of visual context while you prove the clue

5 cases · 15 first-pass decisions

Each advanced case keeps three original 30-second PSG teaching epochs together. The center epoch is the active target while the previous and next epochs stay visible for context. Work through Stage → Channel clue → Feature localization. First submitted responses determine the saved score; a wrong response still has to be corrected before you can continue.

Stage in contextUse neighboring epochs as context without letting them replace the evidence in the center 30 seconds.
Channel reasoningChoose the displayed channel that best demonstrates the specific alpha, eye-movement, spindle/K-complex, slow-wave, or REM clue named in the task.
Point or mark the evidenceClick a requested feature or drag across its beginning and end. Keyboard-friendly alternatives remain available.

Advanced-practice boundary: Pack 2 contains 15 first-pass visual decisions; 12/15 is 80%. The pass and attempt history are saved separately and do not become a new Scoring Lab completion requirement.
Progress boundary: Pack 1 and Pack 2 attempts are Visual Skills practice evidence only. They do not alter Practice, Review, Readiness, Mock, Guided Trail, or the completed status of the separate Sleep Staging and Event-Scoring Lab, and they do not establish scoring competency or inter-scorer reliability.
